THE MAN BEHIND STUPIDMAN
An active writer, producer and director
in the Los Angeles independent film
and theater scene for more than 20
years, Jim Polivka not only wrote,
directed and produced STUPIDMAN, he
also plays the villainous Lax A. Tiv, who
changes from long-haired hippie to
hip-hop gangsta. The part is a far
stretch from the homeless sage he
portrayed in his play
Hollywood &
Wino
, which satirized the film
community, and the aging ballplayer of
his play
Benchwarmers, a moving
comic portrayal of two baseball
players at different ends of the career
spectrum, which later became the film
Last Man Out.  He also wrote and
published the supernatural thriller
novel
Almost Heaven: Lost in the
Afterlife.   STUPIDMAN is clearly one of
Jim's favorite projects, as it is actually
an expanded and updated remake of a
film he made as a teenager.
